Research Associate/Technician, HTS

We are seeking a Research Associate/Technician to join our Biology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating needs for preserving and archiving strains of microbes producing fuels and “green” chemicals from biomass.

As a Research Associate/Technician in our high throughput group, you will be responsible for preserving and archiving strains developed throughout the Biology group. Preparation of seed banks for fermentation process development will also be the responsibility of this position. The successful candidate will be an integral member of a team focused on the development and implementation of new growth models into the High Throughput Screening (HTS) group.

Requirements:

• B.S. degree in molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry or related discipline
• Experience in stringent, sterile environment
• Energetic, well-trained, and self-motivated individual
• Flexible in work schedule based on work flow needs
• Able and willing to learn and implement novel experimental technique
• Exquisitely attentive to details
• Must have a passion for microorganisms and science
• Previous experience with strain preservation and seed banking is highly desirable
• Strong analytical, organizational, and multi-tasking skills
• Requires good teamwork and communication skills
• Flexible and able to work efficiently and productively in a start-up company environment
• Proficiency with Excel
• Comfortable with analysis of large data sets
• Experience in working with yeast and bacteria a plus
