Amyris Obtains Patents for No Compromise® Renewable Fuels and Chemical ProductsEMERYVILLE, CA (November 17, 2009) -- Amyris Biotechnologies today announced that it has secured patent protection for its entire line of diesel, jet and gasoline renewable fuel products. In addition, Amyris has begun to obtain patent coverage for its line of renewable chemicals with the issuance of a patent covering its lubrication products. Amyris plans to commercialize its renewable products starting in 2011, and expects to be the first company to bring a patented renewable fuel to market. Amyris renewable fuels are No Compromise® fuels because they are designed to be “drop-in” fuels for today’s engines and distribution infrastructure that are scalable, cost-competitive with their petroleum-sourced equivalent fuels and offer a number of environmental benefits including lower emissions. Amyris’ current efforts focus on scale up and commercialization of Amyris renewable diesel, which has been registered by the Environmental Protection Agency, warranted for use in demonstrations at up to 20% blends by a leading engine manufacturer and road-tested in cars and trucks.
