Amyris has expanded its flagship advanced precision fermentation facility in Barra Bonita, São Paolo state, Brazil, increasing manufacturing flexibility, speed to scale, and operational reliability for customers worldwide.

At the Barra Bonita site, Amyris uses precision fermentation to transform sustainably grown sugarcane into specialty molecules used by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

In this video, Adam Blaziak, Chief Operations Officer at Amyris, and Hélio Pessoa,  Global Director of Engineering, Projects, and Reliability, explain the facility's new fermentation line how our state-of-the-art expansion strengthens Amyris’ ability to support partners at different stages of commercialization.

The expansion features a 2×80 cubic meter fermentation configuration, enabling faster scale‑up while maintaining rigorous safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Advanced automation, real‑time instrumentation, and robust process controls improve operational efficiency, reliability, and responsiveness.

For customers, this means greater confidence in product consistency, quality, and delivery across industries including flavor and fragrance, personal care, health and wellness, food and beverage, specialty materials, and agriculture.

For Amyris, the expansion enhances long‑term operational resilience and reinforces the company’s vision of a prosperous and resilient world through biotechnology.

Our long-term vision for Barra Bonita is to keep it as an undisputed leader in precision fermentation technology in the world.  We are the highest standard in the industry. - Adam Blaziak, COO
